Our Mission

The PMC provides training, equipment, facilities, and other resources to give everyone, regardless of skill level and financial means, the opportunity to have a voice through media production.

Our History

PMC was founded in 1986 by a consortium of non-profit organizations, led by Maine Medical Center, the University of Southern Maine, and the City of Portland, Maine, as a regional community cable channel for area nonprofits to reach the Greater Portland area on Channel 5.

Our Future

The PMC pioneers innovative ways of providing community media access, production, education, and networking for the greater Portland communities. We recently launched Civic IQ, an exciting new initiative, to help greater Portland residents increase their media literacy and participation in civic dialogue.
