The hub area of Carlisle, PA handles more trucks than anywhere on the East Coast of the United States. According to Dan Lehigh, Chaplain of the Truck Stop Ministry, “Every hour of every day, men and women drive ‘big rigs’ in and out of four area truck stops carrying everything that we eat, wear, drive or use. Their jobs are incredibly stressful.”

Chaplain Dan discusses the fact that about half of the over-the-road drivers are gone from home for 2-3 months at a time. “It’s not unusual to talk with someone who has been away from home for 6 months to a year.”
