Field Camera Workshop

Learn how to operate the Canon 405 field camera, including setup, setting adjustments, audio inputs, and sound. This 1.5-hour session is a hands-on experience!

You must take one field camera class to become certified to borrow field equipment. Please choose your workshop below by highlighting the date and time, add it to your cart, and then checkout to pay; these workshops are only available to members.

Portland Media Center provides low-cost training, production equipment, facilities, and assistance to Portland, Maine residents and Non-Profits. We have state-of-the-art equipment and software to help anyone become a creative pro.

Our training programs enable you to use our equipment and facilities, such as our field cameras, video editing systems, multi-camera television studio, and podcast studio.

To use production equipment at PMC, you must first become certified.

There are five requirements to become certified:

    1. Take our introductory training on the equipment you wish to use;

    1. Take our orientation to our policies and procedures;

    1. Provide photo identification of where you live;

    1. Complete our registration form with current contact information; and,

    1. Pay any class fees and/or complete the volunteer commitment required for some classes. We depend on our volunteers a lot and expect this obligation to be honored.

This hands-on class covers directing and operating field cameras. Attend 1 session. Once you are certified, you can use that equipment to produce your own content or help others produce theirs.
