Membership
Whether you are a professional media maker or someone who has had an interest and wants to learn and collaborate, a Portland Media Center individual membership is a great way to be a part of the community.
We provide training, volunteer opportunities, events and facilities for video and audio production, photography, editing and animation.
When you join the Portland Media Center, you support community media and you share in our mission to ensure all people have an opportunity to be heard regardless of means. We support the City of Portland by promoting civic engagement, stimulating creative expression and celebrating our diversity.
Click here to sign up for a tour and meeting. You can take a tour before you decide on membership. If you become a member, a tour and meeting is the first step after becoming a member to get to know you and your interests and hear about what you’d like to learn or create.
As a member you can reserve our Canon FX400 field cameras for free after a scheduled tutorial. Your membership allows you a 50% discount on our workshops, our space rentals like our podcast and editing rooms and our TV studio. Field Camera reservation
We have Canon FX400 field cameras that you can check out after a tutorial. The camera comes with a lav mic and shotgun mic, tripod and an optional lighting kit. Th only thing you’d need to add to the kit is your own SD card. Members can schedule a time to learn the camera by clicking here (or tour/meeting link)
Zoom Field Recorder
Our h6n Zoom recorder is great for recording audio in the field, interviews and oral history projects. It comes 1-4 mics depending on your needs and they can be condensor mics or lavs, just let us know what you’d need. Members can reserve our zoom recorders up to X times for free after a tutorial and after that members receive a 50% discount on additional reservations. Podcast Studio
Our sound dampened podcast studio is a great room to conduct interviews or narration for your podcast or film project. It has four microphones, headphones and a Rodecaster Pro recording device. You can bring up to three guests with you or conduct remote interviews. The room is also large enough to have at least two video cameras and tripods if you’d like to film your podcast. Members get a 50% discount on this space reservation. If you’re new to podcasting, register for one of our workshops here. Editing room
We have Mac studios with the Adobe suite and DaVinci Resolve. This is a great space to edit your film or audio project and get feedback from PMC staff and members. Our editing rooms could also be a great place to share your WIP with collaborators or subjects of your film. If you’re new to editing, take one of our workshops here. TV Studio
We have a TV STUDIO! This is a great space to reserve for TV show projects as well as for film and photography. You can also reserve our space for smaller events and performances.
