Tom Handel’s last day as the ED of the Portland Media Center coincided with the last day of 2024. We want to thank Tom for 28 years of service to the PMC and the Greater Portland Community.

Tom has guided the organization through a lot of challenges, location changes, equipment improvements and many, many members filming a few thousand episodes of different shows

All of us here at the PMC wish Tom the best in his retirement where he is going to focus on writing a book and acting in local plays.

Meanwhilce, the PMC is in the midst of some exciting times. We have kicked off our Annual Fundraising campaign focusing on our CivicIQ Initiative. We are raising money for new sets for the CivicIQ show and the Media Literacy Program we are undertaking with the Portland Public Schools. We are also raising money for two RED video kits for our Wildlife Film program that is designed to attract school age kids into learning to film wildlife films and blend this into their learning of the sciences.

It is an exciting time to be part of the PMC and we hope you find the time to take a class or come down and help us produce some exciting shows and content or contribute to some of our initiatives we are undertaking with the CivicIQ program.
