With the November election almost upon us, it is more important than ever for people to know how vital it is to vote. This is especially true for people who had justice involvement. Yet it has been common practice in this country to make tens of thousands of people convicted of felonies to be ineligible to vote, in some cases permanently. Over the last few decades, the general trend has been toward reinstating the right to vote at some point, although this is a state-by-state policy choice. Today, we speak with experts about the rights people with justice involvement have to vote and how they can actually vote. Meanwhile, with police brutality in the national spotlight, it is time to bring attention to corrections officer brutality inside jails and prisons.
