Training & Certification at Portland Media Center

At Portland Media Center, our mission is to empower the community through hands-on media education. Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker, a student exploring creative tools, or a neighbor with a story to tell—we have programs to help you learn, grow, and broadcast your voice.

Workshops & Media Training

Our rotating schedule of workshops covers the fundamentals and beyond:

• Podcast & Audio Production
• Studio Production
• On-Air Hosting & Interview Skills
• Social Media for Creators

Workshops are open to all experience levels and are led by seasoned media professionals. Check our calendar for upcoming classes.

Equipment Certification & Borrowing

Want to use our cameras, lights, audio gear, or studio?

To borrow PMC equipment or reserve our production facilities, members must complete certification training that ensures safe, responsible use. Certification is available through select workshops or one-on-one instruction.

Once certified, you’ll have access to:

• Field cameras and tripods
• Portable audio kits
• Lighting equipment
• Editing workstations
• Studio space and live broadcast gear

Youth Media Programs

PMC is proud to offer youth programs that build technical skills, creativity, and confidence:

Our youth programs teach real-world media production in a fun, collaborative environment. No experience needed—just curiosity and creativity.
