New England Authors – Askold Melnyczuk

Askold Melnyczuk, who heads the MFA Department at UMass Boston, has written and edited several books, including books called ”Notable” by the New York Times and have been translated into several languages. His family came from Ukraine and were named ”righteous among gentiles” for saving Jews during WWII. His novels take place both in Ukraine and the US. He also edited a book about the late Father Daniel Berrigan. In the interview he discusses several writers and the voice we use, both when we speak and when we write.
