MSJ Healing the Wounds of Turtle Island

MSJ Healing the Wounds of Turtle Island

I attended the first day of “”Healing the Wounds of Turtle Island” on July 14, Bastille Day. For three days, the Wabanaki Confederation held a healing “Ceremony” Not to be confused with a pow wow or festival, a healing is a solemn gathering of people and spirits to set straight the balance so missing today from our world. According to Wabanaki tradition, great wrongs came to this land. That wrong came through the Eastern gate. According to the same tradition, the healing will begin in the East. The purpose of these ceremonies of prayer and meditation are beginning with the first of sixteen such ceremonies to be held for the next fourteen years. No one was allowed to film these ceremonies. I was allowed to show the surrounding area and conduct interviews. I hope this will encourage you to participate in any indigenous healing ceremony that you might be able to attend in the future.
